When you create an account, we collect your email address and password (hashed). To display a follower count, you provide only your public Instagram username. We never ask for or store your Instagram password, and we never log into or access your Instagram account.

We also collect usage data such as page views, feature usage, and device status information to improve our services.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

Provide and maintain the FollowPulse service
Fetch the follower count shown on your public Instagram profile
Display your follower count on connected devices
Process payments through Stripe
Send service-related notifications
Improve and optimize our platform

3. Data Security

Because we never receive your Instagram password or any account token, there is no such credential for us to store. Your FollowPulse account password is hashed using bcrypt with salt rounds, and we use HTTPS for all data transmission. We follow industry-standard security practices to protect your data.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

Instagram — we read the publicly visible follower count for the usernames you add
Stripe — for secure payment processing. We do not store your credit card information.
MQTT Protocol — for real-time communication with counter devices

5. Data Retention

We retain your account data as long as your account is active. Follower history data is retained for the duration of your subscription. Upon account deletion, all personal data is permanently removed within 30 days.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access your personal data
Request correction of inaccurate data
Request deletion of your account and data
Export your data in a machine-readable format
Remove any Instagram username you have added at any time

7. Cookies

We use essential cookies for authentication (JWT tokens stored in localStorage). We do not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising cookies.
